Nursing in General Practice in North Cumbria

Working as a nurse in general is a great career option. Traditionally seen as an ‘end of career’ role for nurses, times have well and truly changed and we employ a wide range of nurses within our workforce, from those who are newly qualified and undertaking their very first nursing job, to very experienced nurses who may well have spent their early career working in other areas of practice.

We’re developing a great system of working across our nursing teams, working to increase the capacity and quality of placements for student nurses in our practices and also through practice support of the newly launched General Practice Nurse Fellowship – a preceptorship programme for all nurses new to working in general practice within the last year.

As a healthcare community, we’re committed to the development of our fantastic existing nursing teams and we’re really happy to be able to offer a programme of fully funded CPD learning opportunities. For information on all current opportunities and training events, please see the:
North Cumbria Primary Care Nursing Hub teamnet page here.

We’re also pleased that our nurses are able to access high quality clinical supervision by signing up with one of the nurse clinical supervisors in our region. Further information on when this is available and how to access this is available at:
