Local campaign launches to highlight quicker access to care through NHS Pharmacy First

A new local campaign, The Magnificently Useful Seven, has launched across Cumbria to raise awareness of how community pharmacies can support people with seven common health conditions through NHS Pharmacy First.

The campaign highlights the role of local pharmacists in providing timely advice, assessment and, where appropriate, treatment — often without the need for a GP appointment. By focusing on seven everyday conditions, the campaign aims to help people understand when their pharmacy could be the right first place to go for care.

Developed specifically for Cumbria, The Magnificently Useful Seven uses bold, engaging visuals and clear messaging to promote faster access to support, closer to home. It also reflects the important role pharmacies play in supporting general practice and the wider health system.

Not all pharmacies currently offer NHS Pharmacy First, and availability may vary. People are encouraged to check with their local pharmacy to see whether the service is available and appropriate for their needs.

The campaign will run across digital channels, with a focus on each of the seven conditions highlighted individually giving patients the opportunity to learn more.

"I was trying to create something that would really catch people’s attention, in their busy feeds, while clearly showing how local pharmacies can help with everyday health issues," said Paul Day from the Primary Care North Services North Cumbria Project.

"Using a playful, Western-inspired concept hopefully helps the campaign stand out in people’s busy feeds, while highlighting the seven common conditions that the NHS Pharmacy First scheme can support."
