We recently ran a campaign across our social media channels encouraging people to stop scrolling and make time for their cancer screening.
The campaign ran across the NHS area of North Cumbria, with a focus on primary care and the wider health and wellbeing community.
We spend a lot of time looking at screens.
Scrolling. Swiping. Skipping.
We swipe left. We swipe right. We skip adverts and videos, and scroll past things before we've even reached the end.
And sometimes, we even skip things we've been meaning to come back to.
So, for our latest health and wellbeing campaign, we decided to turn that familiar behaviour into a simple message:
Don't skip your screening.
Cancer screening invitations can be easy to put to one side when life is busy. We might think we'll come back to them later, or simply forget about them altogether.
Through a series of social media posts, posters and a short video, we wanted to encourage people to pause when their screening invitation arrives and consider making time for it.
The campaign isn't about frightening people or telling them what to do. It's simply a reminder that, amongst all the things we scroll past every day, some things are worth stopping for.
Your cancer screening invitation is one of them.
Screening programmes can help detect certain cancers, or changes that could become cancer, at an earlier stage when treatment may be easier. If you're invited for screening, take a moment to find out more and consider attending.
In a world of screen time, this might be the most important thing to make time for.
