Growing up can bring all sorts of challenges, both big and small. Whether it's worries about school, friendships, confidence, behaviour or just feeling a bit overwhelmed, having someone to talk to can make a real difference.

Growing Healthy Cumberland's 0–19 Service offers virtual clinics for children and young people, providing an opportunity to discuss concerns with a health professional and find support.

The service, provided by Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, has clinics for two age groups: children aged 5–11 and young people aged 11–19.

The virtual clinics offer support with emotional health and resilience, helping children who may be struggling emotionally to build confidence and develop ways to cope with challenges.

School Nurse Clinics can also help parents and carers with concerns about their child's:

  • Sleep

  • Toileting

  • Diet

  • Development

The aim is to help children feel comfortable, confident and supported as they grow.

The clinics provide an opportunity for young people to talk about what's going on in their lives and get support with issues that may be affecting their emotional wellbeing.

Topics include:

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Low mood, anxiety and worry

  • Bullying and friendships

  • Behaviour and relationships

  • Anger and emotional resilience

  • Puberty, sex education, drugs and alcohol

Whether a young person is feeling overwhelmed or simply needs someone to listen, the service aims to help them feel supported and better equipped to manage life's challenges.
