Did you know you can now receive some of your cervical screening results through the NHS App?
If your results mean you need an appointment for further checks (called colposcopy), you may be notified through the app first.
If you don’t use the NHS App, don’t worry you’ll still receive letters by post.
Here’s how it works:
- You’ll get a notification in the NHS App when your result is ready
- If you don’t open it within 24 hours (for urgent results), a letter will be sent to you
- For other messages, a letter will be sent if the app message isn’t opened within 72 hours
- You might also get a text message to let you know
Most screening invites are now sent digitally too, making it quicker and easier to stay up to date.
Since June 2025, over 3 million invitations have been sent via NHS Notify, where 9 out of every 10 invitations have been delivered digitally, with the remainder being sent by post.
