The BOOST team has recently published a case study featuring our Primary Care Services North Cumbria project.

BOOST grew out of the Cumbria Learning and Improvement Collaborative (CLIC) in September 2022, when they began shaping a learning and improvement community for health and care. Their aim was, and continues to be, bringing together people with a shared passion for improvement, innovation, and change.

Today, the BOOST community acts as a hub where colleagues can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. By fostering a culture of collaboration, collective problem-solving, and continuous improvement, we are able to pool expertise, ideas, and resources — finding better ways to support health and wellbeing across the North East and North Cumbria.

Primary Care Services North Cumbria – Collaboration in Action

Launched in June 2023, the Primary Care Services North Cumbria project set out to strengthen communication, support staff wellbeing, and promote careers in general practice. Backed by the North East and North Cumbria ICB, it brought GP practices, PCNs and partners together to work as one team.

The impact was clear: the website drew 61,000+ visits, social media reached 100,000 views a month, and health awareness events at rural shows helped spot issues early. Practices also reported stronger communication and joint working.

Most importantly, the project laid the foundations for the new Primary Care Collaborative North Cumbria, ensuring local practices continue to have a stronger, united voice.
