Event Highlights Video

Whitehaven, Cumbria, Friday 8 August 2025

The community enjoyed an inspiring and informative day at the Social Prescribing Wellbeing Festival in Whitehaven, organised by Cumberland Council. The event brought together a wide range of local organisations, all working to promote health, wellbeing, and community connection across West Cumbria.

The festival showcased the power of social prescribing – connecting people to local activities, services, and support to improve their health and quality of life beyond traditional clinical care.

Among the contributors featured in our festival highlights video are:

  • Julie Crellin, Community Cancer Awareness Worker for Primary Care Services North Cumbria Project / Northern Cancer Alliance

  • Emma Baughan, Senior Social Prescribing Officer at Cumberland Council

Visitors had the chance to learn more about cancer awareness, mental health support, physical activity, arts and crafts for wellbeing, and a host of community initiatives that help people stay healthy and connected.

Julie Crellin.jpgJulie said: “I think anyone who came along to the event will leave with much more knowledge about how to access health and wellbeing services locally.

"They'll have had a fun day out with all the activities that were on for children and they'll go away with lots of really useful information about health."

A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in organising the festival, the many partners who took part, and every member of the public who came along to join in the day’s activities.
